What is BPCR Silhouette?

BPCR Silhouette is a shooting sport shot with original or reproduction, exposed hammer rifles, originally designed to shoot Black Powder of United States manufacture prior to 1896. Lead bullets are used, without jackets or gas checks, and cartridges are loaded with Black Powder or Pyrodex only.

Rear sights will be of vernier or ladder type, typical of the era, either open or peep, mounted on the tang or barrel. Front sights must also be typical of the era and may use insert type apertures. We also have a special Scope class where scopes designs of the era are allowed, as long as the mounts are externally adjustable, with no ‘click’ adjustment.

Targets are steel, and in the form of a Chicken shot at 200 meters, a Pig at 300 meters, a Turkey at 385 meters, and a Ram at 500 meters. The Chicken is shot off hand, all other targets may be shot from sitting, standing, or prone, across a set of crossed sticks.
